Is There a TreeSize for Mac?

The short answer

No.

TreeSize runs only on Windows, and JAM Software makes no macOS version; from a Windows PC, TreeSize Professional can scan a Mac over SSH, and so can Personal on a typical home network, but nothing runs on the Mac itself. Diskaroo does: a drill-in treemap and a sunburst of where your space went, a duplicate finder that compares file contents, and the Collector for clearing a batch in one go. It's free with a Bravely Account, and the same account covers Diskaroo on Windows and Linux.

Where TreeSize and Diskaroo each win

What TreeSize genuinely does well

  • Server and cloud scanning: Windows server shares, SharePoint, Google Drive, Amazon S3 and Azure, plus Linux or macOS over SSH, from TreeSize Personal up.
  • Reports: PDF export in every edition, and Excel, CSV, HTML and SQLite exports, email reports and snapshot comparisons from Personal.
  • Automation in TreeSize Professional: scheduled scans and exports (daily, weekly or monthly) and a command line.

What Diskaroo gives you on Mac

  • A native Mac app for macOS 14 Sonoma or later, on Apple silicon or Intel.
  • A treemap you click into, with breadcrumbs back out, plus a sunburst and a list of each folder's items, sorted by size.
  • A duplicate finder that compares file contents and sends the extra copies to the Trash, one copy of each kept. TreeSize's starts at Personal, $25.20 per user per year.
  • The Collector: add files from any folder as you explore, review the batch, then move it all to the Trash in one go.
  • Free with one Bravely Account that also covers Diskaroo on Windows and Linux.

TreeSize for Mac: FAQs

Does TreeSize work on Mac?

No. TreeSize runs only on Windows. From a Windows PC, TreeSize Professional can scan a Mac over SSH, and so can Personal on a typical home network, but JAM Software makes no TreeSize for macOS; the Mac App Store's 'TreeSize - Disk Usage' is another developer's app.

Which TreeSize alternative should I use on a Mac?

Diskaroo, if your Mac shares a desk with Windows or Linux machines: it runs on all three under one free Bravely Account, with a treemap, a sunburst and a duplicate finder that compares file contents. Other Mac options include GrandPerspective, DaisyDisk and, since September 2026, WizTreeMac.

Is Diskaroo free on a Mac?

Yes. Diskaroo is a gift: sign in with a free Bravely Account, map your first folder, then claim Diskaroo Pro in the app, free, for life. No card, no trial clock, no subscription.

Does Diskaroo need Full Disk Access?

Only to scan the whole Mac. Your home folder and any folder you pick scan without it. When you choose Scan This Mac, Diskaroo explains why and shows you where to turn it on: System Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Full Disk Access.

Is the TreeSize on the Mac App Store made by JAM Software?

No. 'TreeSize - Disk Usage' ($3.99) and 'Tree Size' ($9.99) come from other developers, and JAM says its products run only on Windows.

Is there a free TreeSize for Mac?

No: TreeSize Free is Windows-only and for private, non-commercial use. On a Mac, Diskaroo is free with a Bravely Account (a treemap, a sunburst, duplicates by content and the Collector). GrandPerspective and OmniDiskSweeper are free, and WizTreeMac is free for personal use.

When you should stay with TreeSize

Stay on TreeSize for Windows file servers and shares: its server and cloud scanning, reports and scheduled scans are built for that work. Add Diskaroo for the Macs, and the Linux machines, that TreeSize can't run on.
